04/02/2010 News: Financial Balance report - Κεßμενο στα ΕλληνικÜ [εδþ] Schiniathlon started in May 2007 with 55 participants and a single - sprint distance event. In 2009 we have evolved to 3 weekend events and 1 Aquathlon with more than 220 participants for each event.
Throughout these 3 years, we are determined to support the expansion of these events and the sports culture. Our determination is translated into investment of time and effort, as well as money to sustain Schiniathlon and running event activities. 2009 series of events have been organized by HOP Events, which is a newly established corporate structure for sport event organizations. This way we managed to receive sponsorship money from companies, invest in more expensive assets. At the same time this decision resulted in increased operational expenses like, rent, accounting fees, state subscriptions and time consumed in "non productive" issues. But there is no alternative if we want to be consistent with our plan to grow the sport in Greece. None of our events has ever received any kind of financial support from the state or any other authority. The unique sources of income are always the fees paid by the athletes and sponsoring provided either in cash or in kind by some companies. Participation has raized from 10euros in 2007 (sprint distance) to 25,2euros (excl. VAT) - even for the long distance events in 2009. Organizing an event for more than 200 athletes is a completely different case compared to the 55 athletes of the first Schiniathlons. In brief:
