Schiniathlon 5th Edition: Financial report
When it started in May 2007, Schiniathlon attracted 55 athletes, we had no infrastructure, no sponsors and very little support. The event was very much amateur, in all aspects.
One year & ˝ later, having completed our 5th Event, we have improved a lot: we have developed an infrastructure to welcome more and more athletes, we offer quality materials whilst ensuring safety for all of you, we raise sponsors funds, we collect athletes’ contributions, and we try and get a balanced event.
Schiniathlon is still being organized by the same 3 individuals, on their free time. We thought we’d share with you, in all transparency, the details of what it takes (financially and humanly) to organize this event. You will be surprised...
Below we present in a rough table the details of our financial report. What you will not find in this table (in terms of figures), is the number of manhours spent by the people who contributed in this event. Manhours have been estimated to be well over 500.

A few details about this table:
- Left side in blue-ish colors present the income of the event
- Right side in red-ish colors the expenses
- We have splitted the expenses in two categories: The essentials and the "nice-to-have".
- Essentials = materials and services without which the event cannot take place
- "Nice-To-Have" = materials and services offered to athletes and help enhance the experience, but the event could still do without (if there was no income to cover the expenses)
