Schiniathlon Multi-Sports Challenge to be held on Sunday 21st September 2008!

Aloha fellow athletes!

Here are all the details of the Schiniathlon event taking place on 21st of September 2008.

Area layout of Moraitis Sports Center:

Events description:

  • Kids Format (<16 y-old) = 50m swim – 500m to 2km cycle – 250m to 1km run
  • Long Distance Challenge = 1.5km Swim – 40km cycle – 10km run
  • Short Distance Challenge = 750m swim – 20km cycle – 5km run
  • Beach Volleyball tournament = Starting at 3pm

Time-plan:
The day will open with the kids' events starting at 08:45am
The SWIM events will start at 10am (long) and 10:45am (short) respectively.

Athletes should be aware and respect the following time-plan (Ελληνικά & English):


Key points:

  • Athletes competing in the long distance challenge will need to receive their racing package between 08:30 and 09:30. Race briefing at 09:40. Race start at 10:00am
  • Transition area will close down at 10:00am. No access to the transition area after 10:00am for all athletes of all distances.
  • Athletes competing in the short distance challenge will need to receive their racing package between 08:30 and 09:30 as well. Race briefing at 10:30am. Race start at 10:45am.

No last minute (on site) registrations will be accepted.

Rules:

Swimming part:

  • All athletes must wear at all times during the swimming event, the special caps provided by the organization
  • Swimmers are allowed to rest at the bouys or at the supervising boats, and continue the race whenever they feel better
  • Use of snorkel and all kinds of googles is allowed
  • Use of any propulsion device or equipment is forbidden
  • There is no cut-off time

Cycling part:

  • Helmet is compulsory for the cycling part. No helmet = no race!
  • Athletes must consider safety as their first priority on the bike route. No cyclist should put in danger fellow athletes. Marshals will monitor and will be authorized to disqualify those whose behaviour is deemed dangerous
  • No littering is allowed (packaging, bottles, plastic cups) outside the water stations.
  • There will be water stations at kilometers 9 and 27
  • There is no cut off time

Registration:
No last minute (on site) registrations will be accepted.

Participation Fee:
Entry to the event will be subject to the payment of a 15€ fee for those that register till 12th of September. After that date the entry fee is 20€.

Registrations will be valid only if you deposit the 15€ fee at the following bank account:
